Alleged cycle thief demands VC produce receipt

A man charged with stealing a bicycle indicated to the court on Friday that he would need to see a receipt before he could repay the complainant for it.

Magistrate Faith McGusty read Terrence Barrow a charge of simple larceny, which alleged that on May 15 at 85 Old Road, Eccles he stole a pedal cycle valued $17,000 property of Ryan Daniels.

He pleaded not guilty to the allegation.

The prosecution objected to bail stating that the defendant has no fixed place of abode.

When asked if he wanted to continue with the matter Daniels told the court that he did and all he wanted was for the defendant to repay him for his phone. The defendant in turn told Daniels that he has to show a receipt for the pedal cycle.

Upon hearing all that was stated, the magistrate, taking into consideration the fact that no address was provided by the defendant, subsequently remanded the defendant to prison. He will appear in court again on June 7 for the commencement of trial.
