Linden biker killed in collision with car

A biker died just before midnight yesterday after the CBR motorcycle he was riding collided with a car on the Amelia’s Ward Public Road, Linden.

Michael Fox, 22, of Lot 954 Cinderella City, Amelia’s Ward, Linden succumbed to his injuries minutes after he was taken to the Linden Hospital.

The driver of the motor car, PTT 2372, Cleon Nicholas also sustained minor injuries and was treated at the said hospital. He is currently in police custody assisting with investigations. The accident occurred around 23:45 hrs.

The police in a press release said investigations have so far revealed that Fox, who was riding an unregistered CBR, slammed into the right side rear of the car and fell.

However, Stabroek News understands that the father of one was proceeding east along the northern carriageway of the Amelia’s Ward Public Road, Linden allegedly at a fast pace when he collided with motor car PTT 2372 which was travelling in the opposite direction.

When contacted by this newspaper, Minnifia Fox, sister of the dead man was still trying to cope with the fact that he is no more. “It was me and him since we were small through everything,” she stated.

She explained that a few minutes before Michael met his demise she had spoken with him and he informed her that he was heading out on the road and he will be back shortly. “He told me he wasn’t going to take long so I didn’t went to bed but wait up on him,” she cried, adding that she never knew he wouldn’t return.

According to Minnifia, she learnt of the incident when her father’s friend called and informed him. She said as a result, they rushed to the hospital where she overheard a nurse saying that Fox was still breathing when he arrived. “When I heard this I had hope that it wasn’t this serious until the doctor came and told us that he is no more,” Minnifia recalled.

Fox’s body is currently at the Linden Hospital mortuary awaiting a post-mortem examination. He was described as a very loving and easy-going individual who leaves to mourn his parents, siblings and one child.
