Cabinet grants no-objections for US$1m in aviation equipment, large textbooks contract

Cabinet on Tuesday granted no-objections to a large number of contracts including one worth nearly a US$1m for the aviation sector and another for US$870,549 for textbooks.

Information on the no-objections was released yesterday, two days after a report in Stabroek News pointing out that the government had not provided such information on contracts for weeks.

Among the no-objections were contracts for the provision of advisory services in relation to the Guyana-Venezuela border controversy. These contracts were for Sir Shridath Ramphal and Dr Payam Akhavan.

A number of awards were also made in the health sector including one for reagents to Productos Roche Panama S.A. for US$556,305. Other contracts in the sector were shared among a number of contenders including New GPC Inc and ANSA McAl. Contract awards in the sector in recent years had been dominated by New GPC.

A no-objection was also granted to a contract for Banks DIH for the supply of $294.72m worth of fortified sweetened biscuits under the National School Feeding Programme for the period April 2016 to March 2017.
