The parents of the Graham’s Hall Primary student who died last Wednesday are still in the dark about what led to their nine-year-old’s demise.

Sharon Reid, mother of Yogendra Persaud, related that nothing was found during the post-mortem examination to show cause of death. As a result, samples will have to be sent overseas for further examination, a task that will take at least another two or three weeks.

The body, however, has been released to the family for burial, which is set to take place today.

Persaud, a Grade Four student, collapsed during his break period last Wednesday, and was rushed to a city hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Conflicting reports about the events leading up to his demise have been circulated, including that he may have consumed either an energy drink, or a packet of corn curls, shortly before requesting a drink of water. The boy reportedly urinated on himself and began frothing at the mouth and then subsequently collapsed.
