Alleged ‘Hot Skull’ gang member fined $80,000

Damion Allicock, who according to the police is one of the alleged members of the Hot Skull Gang, was yesterday fined $80,000 after facing four charges, including escaping police custody.

Allicock was charged on March 1 before Magistrate Fabayo Azore with escaping lawful custody, obstructing a peace officer, assaulting a peace officer and resisting arrest.

It was alleged that the defendant committed the offences against Wilfred Franks, a peace officer acting in the execution of his duties at the Ruimveldt Police Station on February 27.

In her ruling Magistrate Azore stated that she considered all the evidence presented by the prosecution, adding that she also took note of the defendant’s witness and considered her to be a witness of convenience.

She further stated that she did not believe certain parts of the witness’s evidence but fully believes the evidence presented against the defendant by the Prosecution.

It was on these grounds that the defendant was found guilty of the offences.

The defendant, in mitigation, maintained his innocence adding that he’s a father of three and a fisherman.

Subsequently the defendant was fined $10,000 for resisting arrest or two weeks imprisonment, $10,000 for obstructing a police officer, $10,000 for assaulting an officer and $50,000 for escaping lawful custody or three weeks imprisonment.
