Rain forces abandonment of Australia, South Africa match

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, CMC – Rain has forced the abandonment of the seventh game of the Tri-Nations Series between Australia and South Africa at Kensington Oval here today.

Only one over was possible before the inclement weather drove players from the field around 1:10 pm, and South Africa had reached eight without loss after being sent in.

Rain continued unabated throughout the afternoon for the next 3-1/2 hours before finally subsiding, allowing ground-staff to remove the covers.

However, two inspections yielded little and match officials finally scrapped the game at 6:25 pm.

Both teams will share a point from the encounter.
