Minister of Business hears complaints from Stabroek Market stallholders

Minister of Business, Dominic Gaskin, during a walk-about in the Stabroek Market on Monday met with stallholders to hear  the concerns of businesses operating within the market.

A release from the Ministry of Business yesterday said that some of the problems identified by stallholders included:

  • Frequent flooding during high-tides
  • Poor sanitation and wash room facilities
  • Poor maintenance of the market and its surroundings

– Poor security within and around the market

  • Poor state of the wharf area.

According to  Gaskin, “walkabouts such as these provide an opportunity for face-to-face contact with business owners and operators at the site of their businesses so as to get a direct feel of how the various problems actually impact on their livelihoods.”
