In the June 29th 2016 edition of Stabroek News under the headline `Driver gets one year in jail for causing boy’s death’ it was erroneously reported that Puran Ramoo was sentenced to one year in jail for causing the death of 11-year-old Amar Veerasammy.
Stabroek News has since confirmed that Ramoo was sentenced to one year on the count of dangerous driving.
He was found not guilty of the count of causing the death of the child. Stabroek News regrets the error and apologises to Magistrate Rondell Weever for any inconvenience caused.
