Crime Chief Wendell Blanhum told reporters yesterday morning following the Guyana Police Force’s 177th Anniversary Route March that the police have received information that the suspect, Shemar Wilson, has fled the jurisdiction.

As a result, Blanhum said, investigators have been working along with their law enforcement counterparts in that country with the hope of arresting the suspect soon.

A wanted bulletin was issued for the 20-year-old Wilson, whose last known addresses were given as lot 43 North Sophia, Georgetown and lot 51 West La Penitence, Georgetown, less than one week after the incident occurred. He is suspected to be the mastermind behind the incident.

Three men have since been charged with unlawfully and maliciously conspiring with other persons to cause an explosion by way of using a grenade, which was likely to endanger life or cause serious damage to property. Alfie Garraway, 36, of Lot 71 Norton Street; Janiel Howard, 20, of Lot 322 Section ‘C’ Turkeyen and Leroy Williams, 25, of Lot 11 D’Urban Backlands were remanded to prison when they appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan.

Anyone with information that may lead to Wilson’s arrest is asked to contact the police on telephone numbers 225-6411, 225-227, 225-8196, 227-1149, 226-7065, 911, or the nearest police station.
