Dawn Stewart elected to monitoring committee for Global Fund projects

Last Friday, Dawn Stewart, the unopposed nominee of the Guyana Equality Forum (GEF) was elected as the civil society representative to the monitoring mechanism for programmes funded here by the Global Fund for AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.

A press release from the Society Against Sexual Orientation Discrimination, said that the Country Coordinating Mechanism (CCM) was established to oversee the effective implementation of grants provided by the Global Fund. The CCM’s mandate is to coordinate the preparation and approve proposals and submission to the Global Fund and to monitor the implementation of all approved grants. Last year questions of fraud arose in relation to the malaria programme.

Stewart is the Founder and current Chief Executive Officer of CPIC’s Monique caring hands which provides support to families in Guyana affected by HIV and provides women empowerment session. She has years of experience in Public Policy, Health, Education, Nursing Counselling, Psychology, Risk Manage-ment and Business Management, the SASOD release stated.
