A city court heard that between July 17 and 18, at South Ruimveldt, Shawn Smith, 34, of 57 South Ruimveldt, stole $200,000 and US$370 from Arnold Hoppie.

Smith, who appeared without a lawyer, pleaded not guilty to the charge when it was read to him by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan.

Police prosecutor Deniro Jones told the court that he had no objections to bail, which was subsequently set at $50,000. The matter was adjourned until August 23.
