Demerara Lionesses host Children’s Camp

The Lions Club of Demerara Lionesses last Sunday concluded its first “Lions Children’s Camp” which was held over a 3-day period starting on Friday, July 15.

According to a press release from the Lions Club of Demerara Lionesses, the camp, coordinated by Collette Ault, targeted 25 children from Grades Four – Six of the Redeemer Primary School. The camp started with a spelling bee competition facilitated by the University of Guyana Lions Club. The children benefitted from vision screening and each received a hygiene set along with stationary for the new school year.

The release recognised several organisations that supported the camp by facilitating various sessions with the children: The National Agricultural Research Extension Institute (NAREI) who pitched in to facilitate a tree planting exercise at the school and the University of Guyana Turkeyen Camp, Caribbean Youth Environment Network – Guyana who facilitated a session on the 3R’s – reduce, reuse, and recycle.
