September start for trial of teen driver for Buxton woman’s death

A date was yesterday set for the commencement of the trial of Dwayne Griffith, the teenager who is alleged to have caused the death of a woman through dangerous driving.

It is alleged that Griffith, 18, on April 28, at Lamaha Street, drove motor vehicle PTT 9623 in a dangerous manner, causing the death of Nerisa Spencer.

When the case was called before Georgetown Magistrate Fabayo Azore yesterday, Prosecutor Stephen Telford told the court that statements were prepared for the defendant to uplift.

Subsequently, September 17 was the date fixed for the commencement of the trial.

Spencer, of Buxton, was struck down at the junction of Lamaha and Oronoque streets in Georgetown, while making her way to an aerobics class.
