Minibus driver on bond over alleged threats

A Route 40 minibus driver was yesterday placed on a bond to keep the peace after threatening to stab another bus driver.

When he appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan, Dexter Lewis was charged with threatening behaviour against Junior Semple.

Lewis entered a not guilty plea to the offence which allegedly occurred on July 23, at Croal Street.

According to Police Prosecutor Deniro Jones, on the day in question, the defendant pulled an ice pick on Semple, who also operates along Route 40 (Kitty/Campbellville) and threatened to “juk” him.

The prosecution made no objection to bail and added that the file was completed.

Chief Magistrate McLennan placed the defendant on a bond to keep the peace and adjourned the matter to September 13, when it will be heard by Magistrate Dylon Bess in Court 6.
