Stabbed Kitty woman gets hospital discharge

Selina Ramotar, the woman who was stabbed several times by the father of her child, has been discharged from the hospital, a city court was told on Friday.

Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan was given the update when Uttanpad Seenarine, who was charged on July 12th with stabbing Ramotar and leaving her to die with wounds to her chest, legs, abdomen, thighs, and back, reappeared before her.

During the proceedings, the court heard from Prosecutor Neville Jeffers that Ramotar was released from the hospital but is unable to move around without support.

Attorney Mark Conway, who appeared on behalf of Seenarine, stated that since Ramotar has been released from the hospital, his client should be granted bail.

His request for bail, however, was denied by the Chief Magistrate.

Subsequently, Seenarine was remanded once again and the matter was adjourned to September 13th.

The attack on Ramotar took place in front of her David Street, Kitty home, where the defendant reportedly stopped her to speak. Ramotar was subsequently stabbed several times about her body and she was later discovered by her sister in a pool of blood.

Ramotar’s injuries were considered life threatening.
