Accused in robbery with chopper get release on $75,000 bail each

Two men, accused of using a chopper to rob another man of $3,000, were yesterday both released on $75,000 bail after claiming innocence.

Joshua Adams, of Lodge, George-town, and Kevin Smith, of Albouystown, Georgetown, are accused of robbing Marlon Hilliman of $3,000 while being armed with a chopper at King Street, Georgetown. Both of the accused pleaded not guilty to the charge.

According to the police prosecutor, the attack occurred at 12.55am on July 31, when Hilliman was walking along the road. The prosecutor said Hilliman was held up by the accused and robbed of the cash. He subsequently made a report to a mobile police patrol, which later apprehended the suspects and recovered the cash and the chopper.

The prosecutor had no objections to bail but requested that the nature and prevalence of the offence be considered when granting bail.

The men are required to report to the Brickdam Police Station on Mondays, Wednesday and Fridays at 9 am until the case is concluded.

They are scheduled to return to court on August 16 for statements.

Meanwhile, another man was yesterday also released on bail after denying that he stole a gold chain.

Orin Favourite, 29, of South Cummingsburg, Georgetown, is accused of stealing a gold chain valued $135,000 and which was the property of Charles Myers.

Favourite pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Favourite, in seeking bail, told Magistrate Bess that he was never convicted and he did not have a pending matter before the court.

The police prosecutor had no objections to bail but requested that the nature and prevalence of the offence be considered. As a result, bail was eventually set at $75,000 and the case was also adjourned until August 16.
