Miner stabbed to death for ‘name talking’

A miner was stabbed to death on Monday evening at Jackass Landing, Puruni River, Mazaruni, after he was accused of “name talking.”

The dead man has been identified by the police as Clint Peters. He was stabbed multiple times about his body and was rushed to the Bartica Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The attack that left Peters dead occurred around 7pm, after which the suspect fled the scene. He was subsequently apprehended by the public-spirited citizens and handed over to the police.

The police, in a statement, said investigations have revealed that the suspect accused Peters of talking his name and an argument ensued and he was stabbed.
