Commander of ‘B’ Division Ian Amsterdam informed Stabroek News, that two out of the three men who would have carried out the attack are in police custody. He related that the men in custody are brothers. However, the police are still on the hunt for the men’s father, who was also part of the attack.

According to information gathered, last Thursday the police had raided the house where the perpetrators lived in search of a man who was wanted for questioning. The sister of one the victims told Stabroek News that after the raid, the perpetrators began to accuse her of being an informant for the police.

The woman said the men would threaten her and her brother daily. “One day me a come out to go work and them say anytime them see me brother them go chop he and kill he.” Fearing for her brother’s life she asked him to move out.

On Sunday around 17:30 hrs, her brother gathered his friends and entered Angoy’s Avenue to move out his belongings when the three men launched the vicious attack. Residents of Angoy’s Avenue told Stabroek News, that they saw the perpetrators “blading their cutlasses on their bridge” earlier in the day.

All three of the victims are married with children. The families of the victims are calling for justice.
