Linden group promotes ballroom dancing for youth

The Step Right Ballroom Dancing School of Linden, Region Ten held its fifth ballroom exhibition, at the LINMINE Constabulary Hall on Saturday, as it seeks to reintroduce the art among the region’s youth.

According to a GINA press release, Prime Minister Moses Nagamootoo and his wife Sita were the special guests.

“We have to cultivate attitudes in young people that embrace the fine arts, music, dance and sports,” Nagamootoo was quoted as saying in his opening remarks by GINA. He reaffirmed his government’s commitment to the development of youths across Guyana, in the light of Saturday being observed as International Youth Day.

The press release stated that Mrs Sita Nagamootoo also delivered brief remarks congratulating the participants for their exhibition of talent and encouraged the young people to continue to be involved in activities where their minds and time are occupied doing positive things.

The Step Right Ballroom Dancing School offers training in various disciplines of ballroom dancing including waltz, quick step, free style, tango and cha-cha. According to the press bulletin, plans are in place to have an exhibition in Georgetown next year.
