Buxton man dies after ATV slams into car

A 55-year-old man died on Tuesday evening, hours after he lost control of the ATV he was riding and slammed into a motor car on the Buxton Public Road, East Coast Demerara (ECD).

Dead is Paul Wade, a father of two of Lot 106 Middle Walk, Buxton, ECD.

The accident occurred around 1 pm on Tuesday during which Wade sustained broken bones and massive head injuries. He was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) where he succumbed around 6 pm, while receiving medical attention.

The police in a press release said enquires had disclosed that Wade was proceeding east along the public road on his ATV, CF 8345, at a fast rate of speed when he lost control and slammed into the front of motor car PPP 4124, which was proceeding in the opposite direction.

His sister, Christine Zephyr, who is currently on vacation in Guyana told Stabroek News that she was at home when several persons from the community visited Wade’s house, informing her of the accident.

Zephyr said that shortly before the accident, her brother had left home to purchase a few items at a shop located in the community.

Following the collision, he was pitched a short distance away from where the accident occurred and the ATV toppled.

His body is currently at the GPH mortuary awaiting a post-mortem examination which is scheduled to be conducted tomorrow.
