Last Monday, scores of persons visited the British High Commission on Main Street to learn about the Chevening Scholarships being offered by the United Kingdom (UK).
The Chevening Scholar-ship, which is funded by the Foreign and Common-wealth Office (FCO) and partner organisations, is the UK government’s inter-national awards scheme aimed at developing global leaders.
Twenty-two local applicants have been selected to pursue studies over the 2016-2017 academic year, which is almost double the 12 who were picked last year.
The programme is presently accepting applications from suitably-qualified Guyanese who wish to pursue a one-year master’s programme in the United Kingdom. The deadline for applications, which opened on August 8, is November 8.
