Albion businessman robbed outside Rose Hall Bank

A businessman was robbed of $2M yesterday at gunpoint as he was about to make a deposit at the Republic Bank (Guyana) Limited branch in Rose Hall, Corentyne.

According to information gathered, Ramlingan Mangali, co-owner of Permaul’s Snackette and a wholesaler was about to make a deposit of $2M, around 10:20 am, when a man approached him with a gun and demanded the bag of money. Mangali handed over the bag, after which the perpetrator escaped on foot. According to eyewitnesses, the perpetrator after running away was picked up by someone riding a motorcycle. According to Commander of B Division, Ian Amsterdam, no arrest has yet been made and an investigation has been launched.

This is not the first time that Mangali has been robbed.  In 2014, bandits on motorcycles  snatched $10M in a similar attack. The bandits had discharged a number of rounds in the air on that occasion.
