Suspected bandits held after shooting, robbing Henrietta barber

A barber was early yesterday morning shot and robbed of a quantity of jewellery while entering his Henrietta, Essequibo home and two persons have since been arrested.

The attack, which occurred around 3am yesterday, saw Dale Hercules being shot to one of his legs. He was taken to the Suddie Hospital, where he was admitted as a patient.

Stabroek News was told that Hercules had just returned home after an outing when he was confronted by two armed men, who were masked. The men relieved him of the jewellery and shot him during the encounter.

They escaped but were subsequently arrested.

A police source informed this newspaper that acting on information received and with the assistance from members of the public, the police arrested the two suspects. One was caught while he was waiting to board a ferry at Supenaam, while the other was intercepted at Parika Stelling. The stolen jewellery was recovered along with a firearm and several rounds.
