Mark Hillman, the 17-year-old who was found guilty of selling ganja, was yesterday ordered to enroll in the USAID Skills and Knowledge for Youth Employment (SKYE) programme for the next two years.

Hillman was found guilty of the crime by city magistrate Fabayo Azore, who postponed sentencing to await a probation report.

On August 19, Hillman, of 88 Third Street, Better Hope, South, East Coast Demerara, was found guilty by Magistrate Azore of possession of 15.4 grammes of cannabis for trafficking.

During yesterday’s court proceedings, Magistrate Azore heard the probation report and subsequently ordered that Hillman serve two years in the SKYE programme beginning from today.

It was alleged that Hillman was observed selling the illicit drug at the National Park on December 12, 2015, which led to a search by police. Subsequent to the search, the illicit drug was found on him.
