Second person held over Tuschen taxi driver’s murder

A second person is being questioned by the police in connection with the murder of taxi driver Rolun Jodmie.

Jodmie, was fatally shot during a robbery allegedly committed by persons who hired him on Tuesday night.

A suspect was held the same night and Commander of ‘D’ Division Leslie James yesterday said that a second person was held for questioning yesterday morning. He also reported that the person who was initially held on Tuesday was released on station bail.

Jodmie, called ‘Vishal,’ 24, of Tuschen Housing Scheme, East Bank Essequibo, was discovered around 7.20 pm on Tuesday in an area known as Black Water at the back of Tuschen Housing Scheme.

The taxi driver had been hired by two men, who are believed to be his killers.

His body was discovered by residents, who recalled hearing gunshots.

Jodmie was subsequently pronounced dead on arrival at the Leonora Cottage Hospital. It was discovered that he had been shot once to the chest. He was robbed of his wedding ring, a cell phone and a quantity of cash which he had earned during the day.
