Man found at Hague foreshore died of drowning, blunt trauma

The Cornelia Ida resident whose body was discovered at the Hague foreshore on Thursday died from drowning and blunt trauma to the head.

Stabroek News was reliably informed that a post-mortem examination was performed on the remains on Prakash Mahipaul on Friday.

His wife who was detained for questioning following the discovery of his body has since been released.

The body of Mahipaul, 41, of Cornelia Ida, WCD, was found around 11.30 am on Thursday.

Acting Commander of ‘D’ Division Leslie James had informed this newspaper that on Wednesday Mahipaul and his wife had an argument and he threatened to end his life.

The man attempted to consume a poisonous substance but was prevented from doing so by relatives. It was after this that Mahipaul left the home on Wednesday and never returned.
