Updated: South Ruimveldt woman charged over cocaine strapped to legs

The police today said that a thirty one year old, unemployed South Ruimveldt Gardens resident was this morning remanded to prison until December 14, 2016, after being nabbed with six hundred and sixty eight (668) grams of cocaine yesterday at the No. 78 Foreshore, Corriverton, Berbice.

Enquiries disclosed that Senimelia Alizzia Lewis, of 84 Sugar Cane Street, South Ruimveldt Gardens, was an outgoing passenger en route to Suriname, when she was observed by both police and Guyana Revenue Authority Enforcement Officers acting in a suspicious manner, resulting in her being subjected to a search which uncovered the illegal substance strapped to her body.

She was arrested and charged with possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking and appeared before Magistrate Singh at the Springlands Magistrate’s Court and pleaded not guilty
