Accused car burglar was caught on tape

A man was remanded to prison yesterday after a court heard that he was caught on camera breaking into a businesswoman’s car and stealing over half a million dollars in items.

Marvin Williams, 33, of 72 Diamond Squatting Area, stood in the prisoner’s docks before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan and maintained his innocence and begged for bail.

The court heard that on November 9, at Thomas Street, Georgetown, Williams broke and entered the car of Babita Ragnauth and stole several items, which amounted to $596,000. The accused, who was not represented by an attorney, pleaded not guilty to the charge when it was read to him.
