Farmer refused bail over inflicting bodily harm at Port Kaituma

A 57-year-old man was remanded to prison yesterday after being read a charge of inflicting bodily harm on another individual.

Royston Jones, a farmer, is accused of having inflicted grievous bodily harm on Andel Edwards on November 28 at Main Road, Port Kaituma.

Police Prosecutor Shawn Gonsalves objected to bail based on the gravity of the offence and the fact that Edwards was hospitalized in a critical condition.

Magistrate Judy Latchman subsequently remanded the defendant and adjourned the matter to December 13 when it will be heard by the Chief Magistrate.
