According to a press release from the Ministry of Presidency, the President’s visit was in response to an invitation he received from members of the community, who had visited his office a few months ago.

The President reportedly told those gathered that since the start of the holiday season, he has been going to various communities around the country to ensure that children are celebrated and are assured of his administration’s love and commitment to their well-being.

Reminding parents of the importance of keeping their children in school, he declared that his administration emphasises education since it believes it is the gateway to equality.

“Once you are educated you can become anything you aspire to be, but if drop out of school these things will not be possible,” he said.

The release noted that he also urged residents of the community to let cooperation and mutual respect for each other guide their actions, not only during this festive season but throughout the New Year as well.

“In Guyana there are more things that unite us than divide us, so let us emphasise the things that bring us together and do not pay attention to the things that drive us apart and the closer we come together the stronger Guyana will be,” the release quoted President Granger as saying.

He also handed over two laptop computers to the Head Teacher of the Caria Caria Primary School Vernie Russell, for instructional and administrative use at the school.

Norton used the opportunity to wish the residents well for the holiday season and inform them of provisions in the 2017 national budget which will address the needs of the Caria Caria Health Centre and the community’s access to potable water, while Ally assured those gathered that government will give them the good life promised all Guyanese.

Also present were Regional Executive Officer of Region Three Denis Jaikaran and APNU+AFC Coalition Parliamentarian John Adams.
