One dead, three hurt in T&T drive-by shooting

(Trinidad Express) Four people liming roadside near a birthday celebration were shot in a drive by attack in Carapichaima on Saturday.

One man, Kendal Boyce, 32, died . Among the three wounded are brothers Antonio Anderson, 16, who was shot in the leg, and Andrew Anderson, who was shot in the eye and listed in critical condition at hospital. The third man, who is unnamed, is also in critical condition.

The shooting happened at around 9.pm. at Wyabee Road,Carapichima.

Annalisa Anderson, the sister of the injured brothers said: “We were having a birthday party by another brother when I heard the shots burst out. I didn’t know what it was at first. But I just run towards the children. It’s only after we saw the bodies on the ground”.

Annalisa Anderson said she tried encouraging a bleeding Boyce to hold on until help arrived.

“I was telling him to hold on, help coming. But the ambulance was taking too long”. Family members transported the injured to the Couva Hospital in private vehicles.

Boyce, a mason and father of two infant girls, died while being treated by doctors.

The survivors were taken transferred to the San Fernando General Hospi-tal. The 16 year old was discharged on Sunday, but relatives are concerned about whether it was too soon.

Villagers could offer no motive for the shooting. They said that the unknown killers pulled up in a strange car, opened fire, and left.
