Gem Sanford Johnson now heads Guyana Bar Association

Attorney Gem Sanford-Johnson is the new president of the Guyana Bar Association (GBA) for the period 2016 – 2017, succeeding Attorney Christopher Ram who did not seek reelection.

According to a press release from the GBA, Sanford-Johnson’s executive includes vice-presidents Sadie Amin and Mohamed Ali, secretary Excellence Dazzell, assistant secretary/treasurer Telisha Williams and treasurer Anita Mohan-Hamilton.

The committee members are Teni Housty, Brenden Glasford, Alaira Murphy, Randalyn Rowe, Jermaine Jervis and Clevaun Humphrey.

Sanford-Johnson is only the third woman president of the GBA, the release said; the two others were Avril Anande Trotman and Pearlene Roach. In addition, Sanford-Johnson previously served as vice-president for five years during the tenures of former presidents Joseph Harmon, Kashir Khan and Teni Housty.
