Alberttown youth granted bail on cocaine trafficking charge

An Alberttown youth accused of cocaine trafficking was yesterday granted $50,000 bail by a city court.

Robert Ingram, 17, of 53 Fourth Street, Alberttown, was read a charge stating that on June 6, at Fourth Street, Alberttown, he had one gramme of cocaine in his possession for the purpose of trafficking.

Ingram’s attorney, Charlene Fung-A-Fat, told the court that Ingram lives alone but is supported by family. The court later learned from Ingram that the individual who supports him is not a relative, but just someone who looks out for his interests. He also stated that his mother is deceased and his father, who lives in Suriname, is unknown to him.

Ingram was placed on $50,000 bail by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan on the condition that he report to the Alberttown Police Station every Friday. The matter was adjourned to July 11, and transferred to Court 6, where Magistrate Dylan Bess presides.
