Cabinet gives greenlight for major road projects

At its meeting last week, Cabinet have its no-objections to a series of major road contracts including one for $67.7m for the Puruni to Itabali Road, Region Seven and another for $63m for Garden of Eden (GoE).

According to information released by the Ministry of the Presidency, the Puruni road project will be done by MMC Inc.  The GoE project will be undertaken by Yunas Civil and Building Construction Services and is described as Lot #3 – First Street, Garden of Eden, East Bank Demerara (EBD).

Also getting clearance was  a $56.4m contract for Sheareaz Bacchus General Construction for the rehabilitation and construction of Burma Road, Region Five.

Sheareaz Bacchus General Construction has also secured a $15m contract for Lot #1  – Coldingen Housing Scheme, East Coast Demerara (ECD).  The contract for Lot #2 – Busy Dam, Good Success, EBD to the value of $19m was won by Y Bhola Construction Services while Lot #5 – Surat Drive, Triumph, East Coast Demerara to the value of $18.9m also went to Sheareaz Bacchus General Construction. Lot #6 for Third Street, Non Pariel, ECD in the sum of $14.7m went to Syms.

In Region Six, Lot #4 – GTU Hall Street, Vryman’s Erven, New Amsterdam in the sum of $12.8m went to Annirud Ramcharitar Construction Firm. Lot #5 – Republic Avenue, Phase #2, New Amsterdam to the value of $18.2m went to Memorex Enterprise. For Lot #17 – Chandisingh Access Road, Rosehall, Corentyne, the contract in the value of $23.1m to K.P. Jagdeo General Contractors was given the green light.

A $16m contract for Lot #1 – #68 Second Cross Street, West of Public Road went to Y Bhola Construction Service which also secured a $13.4m contract for Lot #2 – 8th Cross Street, Tain/Clifton. XL Engineering picked up a contract for $14m for Lot #3 – Third Cross Street, Edinburgh, East Bank Berbice.
