Decision set for September 19 in Ramsaran insulting language trial

The trial of former health minister Dr Bheri Ramsaran, for using insulting language towards women’s rights activist Sherlina Nageer, has been adjourned until September 19th for decision.

This was after Ramsaran’s attorney produced a medical letter to Magistrate Charlyn Artiga at the Whim Magistrate Court last Thursday— when she was due to hand down her decision—explaining that his client was unable to attend court since he had contracted Chikungunya.

Ramsaran had previously submitted the report for Chikungunya. The magistrate subsequently adjourned the case after announcing that on the next date the court will make a decision whether he is present or not, since the matter has dragged on long enough.

The former minister is accused of using insulting language towards Nageer outside of the Whim Magistrate’s Court on April 20, 2015.
