No bail for men on gun, ammo charges

Two men were on Wednesday remanded to prison by a city magistrate on separate charges for alleged possession of a gun and a shotgun cartridge.

Marlon King, of 36 Norton Street, Wortmanville, appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan on the charge that he had in his possession a .32 pistol and nine live rounds, without being a licensed firearm holder, on September 3, at Norton Street.

Meanwhile, Francis Roberts, 52, was read a charge which stated that he had in his possession a 12-gauge shotgun cartridge, without being the holder of a firearm licence, on September 3, at Norton Street.

Both King and Roberts pleaded not guilty to the charges.

While King’s matter was adjourned to September 28, where it will be heard by Magistrate Fabayo Azore, Roberts will make his next court appearance before the Chief Magistrate on September 27.

Both defendants were remanded to prison until then.
