Accused apparently had no connection to teacher murdered in Bahamas – report

Slain Guyanese educator Marisha Bowen had no apparent connection to the man who attacked her, according to The Nassau Guardian.

Identified as 30-year old Allister Williams of Garden Hills Number 2, the murder accused appeared before Chief Magistrate Andrew Forbes on Monday charged with the September 9 murder of Bowen, who had been employed as a teacher at the Charles Saunders High School.

According to The Nassau Guardian, Williams was not required to plead to the charge and was remanded to prison until October 24.

It was also noted that Williams reportedly had no apparent connection with the woman, whose lifeless body was discovered in her Nassau Village apartment on September 9, 2016 after she did not show up to work.

Stabroek News was told that Bowen, a graduate of the Cyril Potter College of Education and the University of Guyana, was a former teacher at both the Brickdam Secondary School and the Central High School.

She had  been a contestant in the 2012 Miss Renaissance Pageant as well as in the Mother and Daughter Pageant of the same year.
