Family to receive new home through Beharry Build Partnership

A family is to today receive a new home thanks to the Beharry Build Partnership – A Dollar Makes a Difference programme.

According to a release from the Beharry Build Partnership, a two-bedroom concrete home is to be handed over to Imran Khan and Sherry Bacchus this morning at a ceremony in Non Pariel.

The couple will also receive three mattresses donated from Comfort Sleep and other household items from anonymous donors.

According to the release, the couple had lost their home to fire in 2014, leaving them and their three children, one of whom is physically challenged, homeless. After facing many hardships including having to live in a dog kennel and a chicken coop, the couple found out about the Partnership and made contact with them. Subsequently, representatives from the Partnership verified the couple’s claims and shortlisted them for the building of a new home.

The Beharry Build Partnership called “A Dollar Makes a Difference” between Habitat for Humanity and Edward B. Beharry and Company Limited provides low income families with homes and is funded through the Edward B. Beharry and Company Ltd taking one dollar off every unit of item sold and donating it to the Habitat for Humanity Guyana.
