After Police Prosecutor Simone Payne closed her case with her final two witnesses—Colin Smart, a prison inmate and Police Constable Quincy Ward—Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan ruled that the court had considered the evidence that was led by the prosecution to be sufficient and as such a prima facie case was made out against Bailey.

The Chief Magistrate told Bailey that it was his time to lead his defence, by giving his side of the story and calling on witness who could corroborate his testimony as well.

Bailey told the court that he will be calling on prison officers and inmates to testify on the adjourned date.

The matter was adjourned until December 22 for continuation.

Bailey, who is in prison on a charge of murder, was on November 6, accused of unlawfully and maliciously wounding, King, who was convicted of drug trafficking. Bailey throughout his trial has represented himself.
