Numismatists, philatelists, et al should put their collections on display

Dear Editor,

President Granger seems to be the consummate professional numismatologist (numismatist) ie, a collector of coins and medals.

I had listened to an interview on his coin collecting hobby, definitely a healthy and educational pastime. I am sure that the President would not baulk at my suggestion that he put his coin collection on view for all Guyanese and visitors to peruse, especially in this our 50th Independence Anniversary year.

The National Museum or the Castellani House (just a stone’s throw east of his office) would be premier places for such a prestigious exhibition. Regional exhibitions would also be welcome for a limited time, based on logistics and security.

I would also like to appeal to all citizens who have private collections to share them. I am sure that the youth of Guyana will be encouraged to get involved in these interesting and educational hobbies.

Come on board all you philatelists (stamp collectors), ‘muggers’ (mug collectors) ‘boozers’ (bottle collectors) et al. Open up your collections for the enlightenment of all.

Yours faithfully,
Roger A Bhulai
