Traffic police on East Bank overbearing

Dear Editor,

On 22nd March, 2016 an article appeared in the press which referred to driving on the East Bank  as a “nightmare”. There was temporary relief after that article but the reprieve abruptly ended and the discomfort has again reared its ugly head.  On Wednesday April 06, 2016, I was stopped at Coverden Public Road by a Police  patrol at about 4pm and my documents checked.  About one mile after that, I was stopped by another patrol on the said road and my documents checked again. At both “stops” there were at least six  policemen.  Is there nothing that those in authority can do to alleviate this detestable stupidity? It seems that these police ranks have been vetted with full permission to do as they please so they continue to humiliate and harass drivers.  Stops at Grove continue; the congestion at the Habour Bridge; Diamond, Eccles etc continue as policemen subvert the purpose of the traffic lights and “do their own thing”. Confusion continues unabated at Regent and King streets and the litany of woes for motorists remain unaddressed.  The inaction by those in authority can only be considered complicit and paints a dismal view of the image of the police force.

Further, the apparent shortage in the police force does not affect the traffic department. Mr. Commissioner your slip is showing  while, the public outcry against your traffic ranks resonates with a deafening crescendo.

Yours faithfully,
