Carters’ home should be declared national historic monument

Dear Editor,

Am I alone in weeping at its current state when passing the Martin/Phyllis Carter residence in Lamaha Street?

Surely the national poet deserves better than this? The very urbane and

Learned Minister of Culture, Dr Roopnaraine must recognise the time is long overdue for this house to be declared a national historic monument open to the public and the next generations.

Phyllis would be happy – so too Martin?
