Children going to Mae’s because of the teachers

Dear Editor,

As a parent, I would like the authorities in charge of the Primary Division at Mae’s to be cognizant of the fact that the reason we send our children to this school, is not because of the fees, in fact it is more expensive than the other leading private schools. It is also not because of the facilities, because theirs’ (washroom and furniture, etc) is in a more deplorable state than other private schools, possibly even the public schools.

The management of Mae’s has to realize, it’s because of the teachers, especially the grade 6 teachers. As a parent with one child who not so long ago graduated from the primary and left the school and one other child presently in the primary, I watch with interest as to the decision that will be made about the present grade 6 teachers who without a doubt, have helped to put Mae’s School on the map and earned that school some recognition.

For too long, I have heard about the indiscriminate ways the authorities in charge have handled the teachers, never a good word, no increases or proper remuneration, least of all, any incentives to motivate these dedicated teachers.

Now the Management wants to unjustifiably cut the salaries of staff. Where do people get off with such high handed actions?

Yours faithfully,
