Guyanese literature at the London High Commission

Dear Editor,

Who said Guyanese literature was dead? It was alive and well at the London High Commission on Monday, November 21, when two of our star poets, Grace Nichols and John Agard, came to share their work about Guyana and their life in the UK with the diaspora. Exhilarating is too gentle a word to describe the work and the atmosphere in the crowded room. Thanks to Grace and Johnnie and to High Commissioner Hamley Case, who not only hosted the evening but also treated the audience to an aperçu of his debut novel.

Only words but all great work.

Yours faithfully,

John ‘Bill Cotton/Reform’ Mair
