Ten new Peace Corps volunteers, the first to focus only on environmental education and natural resource management, were sworn in on Monday at the Umana Yana.They form the 29th batch of Peace Corps volunteers to Guyana.United States Ambassador to Guyana Perry Holloway, during his remarks at the swearing in, made reference to a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the United States Peace Corps and the Government of Guyana to “support ongoing activities concerning environmental protection and sustainable use and management of Guyana’s natural resources.”Holloway also noted the Peace Corps’ dedication to creating a productive partnership with Guyanese and build a more prosperous, secure, democratic and healthy Guyana.“Our talented and hardworking personnel at the US Mission in Guyana seek to achieve this through active diplomatic engagement, targeted developmental assistance, and an active two-way flow of people, ideas and information,” the ambassador stated.
