New gear for Pepsi Hornets rugby team

When the 2016 rugby season kicks off on January 23, the Pepsi Hornets will be outfitted in new gear.

Thanks to the Demerara Distillers Limited (DDL), the club members on Thursday received the crisp new apparel under the signature Pepsi brand.

The presentation was made by Pepsi’s Brand Manager Larry Wills at a simple ceremony held at the headquarters of beverage giants in Diamond.

In brief remarks, Wills said, “Demerara Distillers Limited under its Pepsi brand is very happy to renew our long standing partnership with the Pepsi Hornets RC.

Pepsi has been sponsoring the Hornets Rugby Team for over 10 years and we really like the commitment and professionalism that is displayed by the team.

“We will continue to give as much support as possible to the Pepsi Hornets Rugby team in 2016 as they strive to succeed in all competitions.”

In response Captain of the Pepsi Hornets squad and decorated National player Ryan Gonsalves expressed heartfelt gratitude on behalf of the Club towards their title sponsor and pledged to continue to upkeep the strong winning tradition as well as confidence placed in the Club by DDL under the world renowned Pepsi brand.

This season scrums off on January 23 at the National Park with the opening North vs South 15s match as well as two women’s 10-a-side teams squaring off.

The Guyana Rugby Football Union 15s league immediately follows a week after.
