Jairam, the release stated, urged other executives and players to strive for the ultimate and they too would be recognized.

The awards ceremony was sponsored by Basil Mahadeo CEO NALICO/NAFICO.

Meanwhile at the annual general meeting all the executive members were retained for another term in office and following the culmination of the AGM, Jiaram advised coordinator D’Anjou to meet with Director of Sports, Christopher Jones, to outline plans for 2016.

There were also discussions on a proposed national schools draughts tournament for Guyana’s 50th Independence anniversary.

The date for that tournament is set tentatively fixed for May 10 and schools in Georgetown, East Coast Demerara and East Bank Demerara are expected to participate.

The tournament is open to schools throughout the country once they can make it to the National Gymnasium on that day.

The GDA, the release stated is seeking permission from the Ministry of Education for the tournament.
