Mohammed returns to form with ton

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad, CMC – West Indies one-day batsman Jason Mohammed turned the page on his poor form during the recent Regional Super50 with a hundred or his club PowerGen in the opening series of the 50-overs championship here Saturday.

The right-hander struck 101 at Syne Village as PowerGen trounced Tableland by 84 runs.

Mohammed, who managed just 50 runs in five outings as he captained Trinidad and Tobago Red Force to the Super50 title earlier this month, smashed ten fours and three sixes in a 95-ball knock as PowerGen tallied 312 for five off their allotted overs.

In reply, Tableland slumped to 128 all out off 33.3 overs with left-arm spinner Jovan Ali, who plays for Combined Campuses and Colleges in the regional one-day tournament, taking four for 32.

At Pierre Road, Barbados Pride batsman Kenroy William played a key role as Comets beat Merryboys by five wickets.

Chasing a tricky 180 for victory, Comets lost their first five wickets cheaply before Red Force wicketkeeper/batsman Steven Katwaroo top scored with an unbeaten 71 and Williams, an unbeaten 43, to steer their side home.
