Defending champs in 8-0 blitzkrieg of St Winifred’s

Defending champs Chase Academy, Dolphin Secon-dary, Tucville Secondary and Kingston Secondary secured group wins when the fourth annual Milo Schools U20 football championships continued yesterday.

Played at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue, Chase Academy dismantled St. Winifred Secondary 8-0 margin. Josiah Charles netted a brace in the 45th and 53rd minutes while Jeremy Garrett recorded a double in the 55th and 63rd minutes.

Assisting with solo goals were Curtez Kellman, Keith Caines, Job Caesar and Amoniki Forde in the fifth, 31st, 56th and 70th minutes respectively.

Meanwhile, Kingston Secondary downed Cum-mings Lodge Secondary 4-2. Vincent Thomas led the way with a second half brace in the 60th and 64th minutes while Shawn Grovesnor assisted with a 23rd minute effort. Adding to the score line was an own goal in the 30th minute.

Leonardo Wilson and Elroy George scored in the 14th and 39th minutes correspondingly for the losing side.

In the opening fixture, Dolphin Secondary squeaked past St. Mary’s by a 2-1 margin. Akeem Daniels and Derick Ross scored in the 44th and 62nd minutes respectively. On target in the loss was Colin Denny in the 66th minute.

Meanwhile, Tucville Secondary defeated East Ruimveldt after the latter was caught fielding an ineligible player. Prior to the stoppage of the match with only 10 minutes remaining, Tucville was leading 4-2.

On target for Tucville was Keifer Brandt in the 32nd and 45th minutes while Calvin Peters and Julian Bamfield netted in the 34th and 50th minutes respectively. For the loser, Brian James scored in the 27th minute while an own goal opened the scoring in the 18th minute.

The action will continue today at the same venue with another four matches. In the opening fixture, Houston Secondary will lock horns with North Ruimveldt from 11:00hrs while Brickdam Secondary will faceoff with North Georgetown Secondary from 12:30hrs.

In the third fixture at 14:00hrs, Lodge Secon-dary will match skills with St. Joseph High while the final fixture of the day will pit Morgan Learning Centre against Queens College from 15:30hrs.

Winner of the event will walk away with the championship trophy and $500,000 towards a school project.

On the other hand, the second, third and fourth place finishers will receive $300,000, $200,000 and $100,000 correspondingly towards the funding of a school initiative and the respective trophy.
