Courts on board with CrossFit event

In keeping with its commitment in the area of healthy living and fitness, representatives of Courts on Thursday announced that the company will once again be on board with the CrossFit Challenge.

The second annual event is billed for March 13 at the National Park and will see participants performing several different exercises to test their level of fitness and endurance.

Several gyms and individuals active in fitness have already indicated their interest.

Courts said that it was happy to see the growth and interest in the areas of health and fitness in Guyana and was happy to once again be associated with the event.

The company donated $300,000 towards the success of the event and said that it will continue to support such initiatives in efforts to bring value home to Guyana.

Nine clubs comprising of three males and a female will compete for the title of the nation’s fittest team.

According to one of the coordinators of the event, Jamie McDonald, “this year will be a bit tougher than last year.”

Athletes will have to perform Olympic snatches, a combination of running and dead lifts and a mixture of Cross Fit movements like jumping over walls and pushing sleds.
